WHAT IS A LAY VISITOR?
A Lay Visitor is someone who has experience of using health and/or social care services or who is a family carer of a relative who is using a service or someone who has experience of working in care and support environments.

WHAT DOES A LAY VISITOR DO?
North Yorkshire County Council Health and Adult Social Care is required to assess its services. Lay Visitors support quality assurance officers by talking to and getting the views of the people who are using that service.
Lay Visitors add a different perspective to the assessments, helping the assessors get a fully rounded picture of how well those services are doing.
Training and support is provided and expenses are paid.
Time commitment: visits usually take place during week days. You choose when you are available and we match you to an appropriate assessment.
