We are looking for experienced senior care staff to join our exciting team. Enthusiasm to care for and train our adults with learning disabilities is a priority.

  •       On Call approx. 1 in every 12 weeks

Right now, we’re looking for positive, flexible and committed experienced Senior Support Care Workers to join the team at Ellershaw House Ltd which is a 12 bedded care home pleasantly situated within a rural moorland location near Grewelthorpe, Ripon. The majority of our residents have lived at Ellershaw House for many years and as such it is run as a “home” environment with dogs, chickens and horses. Ellershaw House Ltd provides residential specialist care, including respite and day services, for adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Ellershaw House Ltd offers various facilities and services, such as: Day Care • Physiotherapy • Independent Living Training • Own Pets by arrangement • Minibus or other transport for residents • Gardens for residents use • Residents Internet Access • Therapies such as gardening, art, music, equestrian and rebound. Our focus is to provide an interesting and varied activities led day with the highest quality service at all times.

What you’ll be doing 

Assisting residents with personal care activities such as washing, personal hygiene, dressing and assisting with meals and providing medication.
Providing physical and mental stimulation by taking part in recreational and social activities with residents, both individually and as a group 
Helping to maintain accurate records, undertaking ongoing training and getting involved in welcoming and training new staff 
Generally promoting our residents’ independence, choice, dignity and respect by delivering the very best standards of care 

What you’ll need 

Ideally, some experience in a challenging behaviour care environment and Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent although this is not as essential as your genuine desire to develop a career in this field with an aim to work towards this level of qualification. (Minimum of Level 2 Health & Social Care is required with an expectation to study for Level 3)

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a dedicated team

You will get to know our residents and their families – helping to ensure we deliver truly personalised care plans

A positive, confident and enthusiastic attitude with a proactive and flexible approach to team working alongside colleagues and residents. 

A respectful and courteous nature but with an ability to place firm boundaries when necessary as well as a willingness to undertake any aspects of care or non-care duties

You will be involved in providing essential physical and mental stimulation through a range of social and recreational activities such as; gardening, house skills, talking therapy and exercises depending on resident’s capabilities.
 
A belief in giving your personal best at all times and striving for continuous improvement

Access to own transport with full clean driving licence – due to our rural location we are not on any public transport route and you will be transporting our residents to appointments and social events in our vehicles.
