Do you want a job that you honestly enjoy? Where you can build a genuine relationship with the person you are supporting – allowing them to live a fulfilling and social life? A job where you look forward to your next shift?

Make Care Matter have a fantastic new vacancy working alongside Avalon. We are looking for a Support Worker to work with a customer with autism based in Knaresborough. The customer is a young male who is looking for someone who can support him with his independence as he moves into the next stage of his life by working towards his goals and aspirations.

He is looking for someone who would be willing to support him to regular music gigs as he has a passion for live music, and to enhance his social opportunities by taking part in recreational activities such as bowling and keeping fit in the gym.

Due to the needs of the customer we would be looking to appoint a male support worker as there will be some personal care involved. There will be the use of a Mobility Scheme car so you would need to have a full UK driving licence and be over the age of 25 years old as stipulated in insurance requirements.

The customer currently attends college so during term time the support is required for a minimum of 16 hours a week mainly in the evenings and at weekends. This will rise during the school holiday period to full time with opportunities to even take on extra hours. You would also need to be available on alternative Saturdays throughout the year to provide support. Of course there will be an opportunity to work with other customers here at Avalon during term time when the hours of support with this customer are limited.

We are also seeking Support Workers to work alongside other clients within Harrogate and Knaresborough.

You don’t need to have any experience as Avalon’s in-house training team will ensure that you have all the additional skills you need to deliver the role with confidence but you do need the drive and compassion to help customers to live great lives.

We do require individuals who can work flexibility over 7 days which will include working evenings and weekends.

The Avalon Group is a well-established, award-winning charity providing flexible person-centred care, support and companionship for everyday life, housing, learning and employment.

As an Avalon employee you will get exclusive access to discounts at high street retailers such as Boots, M&S and Sports Direct. You will also be able to join an employee assistance scheme, which is a 24/7 advice service giving you impartial guidance regarding any personal matters or concerns you may have.
