Support Time Recovery Worker

 

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Mental Health Team covering Ryedale and Whitby areas within North Yorkshire County Council.

As a Support time recovery worker, you will work closely in partnership with a variety of teams and agencies, including the opportunity to work collaboratively with Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS (TEWV). Which will involve working with service users on an inpatient psychiatric ward. You’ll benefit from being part of a team of diverse disciplines, including Approved Mental Health professionals, psychiatric nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, mental health social workers , occupational therapists to name a few.

You will be instrumental in promoting the mental health social care service amongst our internal and external partners.

The recovery model is at the forefront of a support time recovery workers practice. You will be promoting recovery using the CHIME principles of connectedness, hope, identity, meaning and empowerment. We believe that a person’s community and social networks play a vital role in ensuring that we achieve the best outcomes for people. It will therefore be part of your role to think creatively when looking for solutions to meet individual needs.

You will be responsible for following and delivering a support plan that has been completed by a Mental Health Social worker, Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or Social Care Coordinator. You will be part of the review meetings, facilitate group work and work collaboratively with 3rd sector agencies. A key part of your role will be to support individuals to maximize their independence and promote recovery and wellbeing.

 

A background in mental health would of course be beneficial, but is not essential for this role. We believe that a positive attitude, a tenacity for learning /developing and a passion for supporting individuals to achieve their maximum potential is the desired attributes of applicants interested in undertaking this role. You’ll receive training and be given the opportunity to further your understanding of a wide range of mental illnesses and be encouraged via annual appraisal and supervision to build on your own professional interests within the mental health field.

You will benefit from routine supervision from a dedicated line manager, with opportunity for constructive feedback and reflection on practice.

Candidates must be highly focussed, committed and adaptable individuals who have an aptitude to work in a fast paced environment and have good
organisational and communication skills.

Voluntary Living Wage

 

It is acknowledged that cost of living pressures are difficult for everyone and there are a range of offers and support available to all staff, some of which are referenced (http://nyccintranet/news/cost-living-pressures-update). National pay negotiations for the 2022/23 NJC pay award are unlikely to conclude in the near future. To support the workforce Management Board have worked with UNISON and agreed for this financial year (2022-2023) that employees in Grades A, B and C who are currently paid on spinal points 1, 2, and 3 of the NJC pay scale will have their basic pay increased  to match the Voluntary Living Wage (currently £9.90 per hour). This will be paid in June with arrears backdated to  1st April 2022. When the 2022/23 pay award is agreed, if,  as we expect, the national pay award increases pay to above this level, then the new pay from the pay award will be applied.
