On Monday, 20th May, the Start-Up Programme – Reed In Partnership successfully concluded a fantastic 12-week journey for its eight eager participants. This program is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in their chosen professions, providing them with invaluable employability guidance tailored to support their career aspirations.
As part of this initiative Lauren Brady from Make Care Matter had the privilege of being invited as a guest speaker to share insights about the rewarding opportunities within the care sector. During Lauren’s presentation she emphasised the fulfilling nature of careers in adult social care and how the Make Care Matter team can support individuals in achieving their career goals. Lauren said, “The session was a chance to educate potential care and support workers that may have never thought about going into the care industry. For those who had considered the care industry, it gave them the opportunity to gain a clear understanding of what it takes and what values are required to work in the Care industry.”
Following the presentation, each candidate had the opportunity for one-on-one consultations with Lauren, during which they reviewed their CVs and discussed their career goals. This personalised approach proved to be highly effective, allowing candidates to gain tailored advice and actionable steps to advance their careers in care.
Make Care Matter was honoured to contribute to such a well-organised and impactful event. The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the insights and guidance provided. Lauren said she left the event with “a feeling of hope as a lot of the Reed Clients had changed their minds about the care sector and were very interested in finding out more or wanted to be supported to take the next steps to get into the care industry.” Lauren and the Make Care Matter team eagerly await the arrival of their CVs and the opportunity to put them forward to relevant services, while also preparing for an upcoming event where they can continue to make a difference and provide support to those interested in pursuing careers in adult social care.
Reflecting on the event, it was evident that significant effort had been invested by all parties to make this session a success and to positively influence the candidates' career trajectories. Make Care Matter is excited to continue their working relationship with the Start-Up Programme – Reed In Partnership and will be offering support to another group of participants taking part in The Restart Scheme - Reed In Partnership on 20 June 2024. We are excited to continuing adding value to these courses hosted by Reed and helping bridge the gap between aspiring professionals and a successful illustrious career in the care sector.
