On 5th November, the Make Care Matter team attended the Care Fair at Northallerton Job Centre, hosted by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The event brought together job seekers, care providers, and support organisations with a shared goal: to promote careers in care and strengthen the local care workforce.
The fair provided a fantastic platform to connect with individuals interested in pursuing a career in adult social care. It also offered a valuable space to engage in meaningful conversations with local care providers. Discussing current challenges, sharing positive insights, and exploring ways to collaborate more effectively. These exchanges are vital in building stronger relationships with external partners and ensuring that the care sector continues to grow and evolve in response to community needs.
Sophie and Elle from the Make Care Matter team were on hand throughout the day, speaking with many enthusiastic attendees keen to learn more about the care sector. They shared information about the wide range of roles available, the skills and values needed to succeed in adult social care, and the support Make Care Matter offers to both candidates and providers in North Yorkshire.
The atmosphere was warm and collaborative, with a real sense of shared purpose. It was incredibly rewarding to showcase the work we do at Make Care Matter, particularly our involvement in supporting the Yorkshire and Humber International Recruitment Fund.
Events like the Care Fair are a reminder of the passion and potential within our communities. They highlight the importance of continued outreach, partnership, and advocacy for the care sector.
