Scarborough Pride 2024

Celebrating Inclusion and Diversity at Scarborough Pride 2024

This past weekend, our team had the privilege of attending Scarborough Pride 2024, a vibrant and well-organised event dedicated to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusivity for all. The Pride festival, aimed at combating discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, serves as a platform to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in Scarborough and surrounding areas.

We had many enriching conversations with festival-goers about North Yorkshire Council and our commitment to promoting inclusive employment practices. These conversations reinforced how essential it is to create safe and inclusive spaces in our workplaces for people of all identities.

The event, part of a broader mission to develop LGBTQ+ community cohesion and combat isolation, also provided an opportunity for health and wellbeing organisations to connect with the community. One standout moment was meeting a dedicated nurse promoting equality within the NHS. Their commitment to representation and visibility, showcased by the 5 hours they spent getting ready for the event, was truly inspiring.

Scarborough Pride is more than just a celebration—it’s a reminder of the power of diversity, inclusion, and community. We were proud to be a part of it and look forward to continuing to support these important causes.
